“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.”

Forbidden by Brookelyn Mosley

Whew, let me just say, this book is the epitome of, “If you can’t handle the heat, stay out the kitchen!” And there was much heat coming from this book!

Let me start off by saying this is my first time reading a book by Brookelyn Mosely, but I promise it won’t be my last. I came across this author while doing my weekly search for indie authors, and I won’t lie, I bought this book because I liked the cover! LOL. But it was definitely a great impulsive purchase.

Forbidden An Anthology contains five short stories, with a variety of characters you find yourself getting attached too quickly. And even if you find yourself disagreeing with their choices, their actions are definitely enticing. Oh, maybe I should’ve directly indicated this book contains strong sexual content, and is not for the faint of heart.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started reading, but by the end of this book, I was more than satisfied!

Our first story is titled Tasteful Taboo and is about a married couple, Joelle and Cam, who do what they can to make this marriage work. Well, more like Joelle is doing what she can to make her marriage work, cause it’s clear her husband has wandering eyes. So, once a year, they engage in a little couples swap, but this year, Joelle may have bitten more off than she can chew!

Story number two involves Genesis, her husband, and his best friend August; and their story is titled Karma Coated. Genesis’s husband is in critical condition after a car accident, and she finds herself seeking comfort in his best friend’s arms. But before you judge Genesis and August for their love “affair” you might want to know the whole story first. But I won’t tell!

Decadent Contradictions is the reason we say, “Never say never!” To say Joi has been given the short end of the stick when it comes to men would be an understatement. She’s been through it all and is beyond fed up. She wants the real deal and is determined to get it. So when her Malik Clark enters into her life, she is determined to do whatever it takes to keep him!

Story four, A Delectable No-No, is the perfect story of revenge! Ayanne is “sick and tired of being sick and tired” of her boyfriend, Dominick. And with all the pain and misery he’s put her through, she can think of only one way to even the score and really do some damage. And boy does she do some damage!

Last, but definitely not least, is Divinely Illicit. Now, if you’ve read the No Fraternizing series from Mosley, then you’re already familiar with Romello, aka Mello. But don’t worry, if you haven’t, it won’t take away from this story. We meet Mello, and within a few short pages discover he’s got a reputation in the streets and the sheets. He has no issue bragging on his sex skills and definitely pays homage to the one who taught him well. The one who got away, Toni. Well, Toni makes an unannounced visit, and Mello has one night to show her what she’s been missing over the years!

If this didn’t pique your curiosity, check out the book reviews for this book that can be found on Amazon! You’ll see my Five Star rating up there! These stories were truly enjoyable because they were relatable in some way. Not saying you may have experienced any of these situations personally, but may know someone who has. It’s so easy to say how you’ll handle something, but these stories threw you right in there and definitely will make you re-evaluate what you consider right from wrong.

This book is definitely getting a Five Star rating from me, and I cannot wait to review other works by Miss Brookelyn Mosley!

If you’ve read any books by her, please let me know, I am open for suggestions! If you grab a copy of Forbidden, make sure you message me and let me know what you thought!
