"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. . .The man who never reads lives only one." -Martin
We’ve all come in contact with someone who says, “I hate reading.” And if you’ve never heard it, chances are, you might be that person who hates reading! The optimistic person in me believes that no one really hates reading, it’s just that they haven’t/don’t come across a topic that holds their interest. I have to believe this because of how important reading really is! And before getting into the importance of that, I have to touch a little bit on why it is we write!
Writing is used to express, inform, inspire, command, or simply update others. Without writing, people may never know how to program computers, or put together desks. Heck, if it wasn’t for writing, I wouldn’t have known how to create my own blog! Though now a days, everyone wants everything to be shown or explained to them the quickest way possible, in order to get to the “easy way,” someone has to read through all the hard stuff!
Some of us right to inspire and motivate! Everyone loves a good motivational story, with a happy ending. And everyone loves sharing their success stories! And why wouldn’t they! There’s nothing more exciting than being able to relate to someone with a similar background as you, and seeing them become a star.
Now, my favorite kind of writing has always been fiction/fantasy. I have a huge amount of respect for an author who can create characters, storylines, and alternate universes from their imaginations! Being able to create these scenes in your mind, and feeling that genuine connection with a character is an indescribable feeling. If you read that sentence, and couldn’t relate, chances are, fiction/fantasy isn’t your thing. And that’s fine! Sad thing is though, half of the reason this blog was created, won’t benefit you! But for those who love reading, or want to read more, I may be of assistance to you!
If you’re reading for fun, personal growth, or to gain knowledge, you’re on an amazing path and I applaud you! If you’re looking to read more just because, you’re still on an amazing path! In a world where technology and multi-tasking demands so much of our time, focusing our minds to be able to concentrate a few minutes throughout the day is a great way to keep your brain in shape! Yes, I said in shape because if you’re reading this you are well aware that your brain is a muscle, and just like every muscle in your body, it needs a little maintenance every now and then! Now that can be crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, riddles, and guess what, reading!
Now, if I still haven’t sold you on the whole idea of reading, and you still feel like you hate it, I want you to point out you made through my very first blog, which consists of 555 words, and I managed to capture your attention this long! So, before you throw in the towel, and give up on books all together, think about what it is you may have learned just now, and what may interest you. After you’ve thought about this, realize if you can spend x amount of time reading my 555 word blog, you can spend x amount of time reading 555 words a day about something you’re interested in!
With that being said, I am excited to announce the first book up for review will be Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile. I am aware of the series currently out which is getting so much love, so I cannot wait to fall in love with her words. My review will be posted the end of this month! Please subscribe for updates!!
